• PaperPort version 9 Deluxe vs. Pro Office in a nutshell:

Both versions provide OCR (optical character recognition) to turn scanned images into editable word processing documents.  Both provide scanning to a PDF file.  Pro Office provides network processing and additional PDF functionality including assembling and Annotating PDFs, create PDFs from Office products (as opposed to "printing to a PDF file".  Deluxe can be configured to generate PDF files from most Windows applications by printing from the application to the PaperPort desktop printer driver.
